Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a health care discipline based on the scientific premise that the body is a self-regulating, self-healing organism. These important functions are controlled by the brain, spinal cord, and all the nerves of the body.

The skull protects the delicate tissues of the brain. The moving bones of the spine (known as vertebrae) protect the intricate communication pathways of the spinal cord and nerve roots. If these nervous system pathways are impaired, malfunction of the tissue and organ function throughout the body can result.

Chiropractic also places an emphasis on nutrition and exercise and healthy lifestyle modifications to obtain true health.

The Chiropractic Adjustment

“Chiropractic” comes from the Greek word Chiropraktikos, meaning “done by hand.”

A chiropractic adjustment is a very safe, gentle and effective form of therapy. The chiropractic adjustment respects your bodies innate healing and recuperative powers. Special adjusting techniques may be used for babies or the very young. Each adjustment is specifically tailored to the child’s age, size and unique spinal problem. Most children enjoy the experience and look forward to their chiropractic adjustment.

We use chiropractic techniques including:

  • Activator
  • Cranial work
  • Chiropractic Functional Neurological Assessment
  • Diversified
  • Drop piece

Please note we do not manually manipulate the necks of children under 5 years of age.

What is Applied Kinesiology?

Chiropractic is the art of restoring optimum function to spinal structures within the body that protect the nervous system, thus allowing bodies to function and heal correctly, at their full potential.

Applied Kinesiology is an advanced technique used by practitioners to very specifically locate the exact areas of dysfunction within the body, and the causes of such dysfunction.

As an example, a headache very commonly is caused by dysfunction involving the jaw; hip problems commonly arise from issues with foot mechanics.

Applied Kinesiologists use muscle testing to provide immediate feedback about what chiropractic adjustment is perfect for your body, and which chiropractic treatment will get your body better in the most efficient way possible.

Professional Applied Kinesiology is a trademarked term, only used by Health Professionals who have undergone extensive training and certification in the skills of Applied Kinesiology.

What is Neuro-Emotional Teachnique?

If you’re in a weakened state due to factors such as stress or physical trauma, everyday emotional responses may not fully resolve as they naturally should. Later in our lives, when we experience a similar situation, an old emotional response can kick in.

Individually, we rarely see the link between a past event and our present situation. This is where NET is crucial — NET can help identify an old unresolved event (real or imagined) and help your body release its lingering emotional response. For good!

People used to think that emotions resided entirely in their brain. Now we know that other parts of the body can hold emotional charges too. Have you ever felt butterflies in your stomach before a speech?  Have you referred to something as a “pain in the neck?”  Have you ever felt a “lump in your throat?” Clearly emotions happen in our body, not just our brain.

NET practitioners can find unresolved, negatively-charged emotional responses that are stored in your body and help you release them. It’s fast, it’s fun, and it can dramatically improve your health.

Finding “trapped” or conditioned memory loops is done with the help of simple muscle testing. This helps determine if your body is in harmony with a particular concept or idea which is linked to an unresolved emotional event.

To make the correction, you’ll form a mental picture – a “snapshot” – of the original triggering event. Your body will assume an emotional state similar to the way it originally reacted. Then we will contact (or ask you to contact) a specific body point that is associated with the unresolved emotional response. This helps your body release the emotion linked to the event. It’s that simple!

After the correction, many patients report feeling that a heavy weight has been lifted from their shoulders. If things become too personal or uncomfortable during the process, just say the word and the session can end safely. You are always in control.

NET is safe and effective, and is a natural way to help long-standing health problems by resolving the emotional components that accompany the physical symptoms.

What are Retained Primitive Reflexes

From the moment we are conceived, our brain develops many ‘primitive’ reflexes that help us survive. After birth, these reflexes are referred to neonatal reflexes. Activities such as breastfeeding, sucking, crawling, and a babies ability to react to stimuli are dependent on these reflexes.

As babies grow, these reflexes are no longer needed. They diminish or integrate into more complicated skills that are appropriate, such as hand eye co-ordination, balance, and the ability to think through more complicated tasks. In some cases, due to trauma (very commonly birth trauma through intervention such as forceps, cesarian delivery) to the body at an early stage in life, a baby’s brain may allow the simple, neonatal reflexes to remain, inhibiting a growing child’s ability for their brain to take on new more complicated tasks.

This can lead to learning and behavioural difficulties.

Assessment of children for these reflexes is safe, gentle and fun for children. Treatment is surprisingly simple, and very effective. Treatment is very precise, and generally involves an initial stage of weekly 20 minute sessions over a 6-12 week period (depending on each child and circumstance). Parents remain very well informed about the progress of their child’s treatment at every stage, and are included in the process every step of the way.

What is Total Body Modification?

Total Body Modification (TBM) is an advanced kinesiological technique that evaluates, rebalances and resets energy imbalances found in the organs and functions of the body that require resolution before an individual can achieve true health. It identifies the imbalances using the technique of muscle testing, and corrects the problem by restoring balance to the nervous system by stimulating reflex points located along the spine.

How Does TBM Work?

Where traditional Chiropractic techniques are used to correct the structure of body to enhance its function, TBM sets out to correct the functional physiology, which in itself improves the body’s structure.

The various components of the nervous system are all controlled by the brain. Like a computer, sensory nerve fibres deliver messages to the brain, which in turn interprets them before instructing body parts via motor fibres what to do next.

The neurons (nerve cells) located in the centre of the brain are responsible for controlling individual body parts. When a body part is put under stress, so too are the corresponding neurons which depolarise. As a result, the brain receives the message, but no instruction is returned from the brain to the organ. This leads to a consequent loss in control over the affected body part or organ.

A TBM practitioner may identify and rectify the problem by the combined use of muscle testing and stimulation of specific reflex points along the spine corresponding to various body parts/ systems. An instrument or a hand itself is used to make the corrections. In stimulating the specific areas of the spine in a set way, the damaged neurons of the brain are repolarized, allowing the brain to regain control over affected body part. This removes any roadblocks to recovery the individual may have been experiencing, restoring the function of their nervous system allowing optimum health.
