Dr Emily Petherbridge (Chiropractor)

B.Sc (Chiro) (Macq) M. Chiro (Macq)

Dr Emily Petherbridge has been practicing as a chiropractor in Hornsby since starting her own practice Little Spines in 2012. Prior to opening Little Spines, Emily practiced in several clinics around Sydney where she grew her skillset and experience as a chiropractor. This experience included clinics with a strong focus on sports injuries and rehabilitation programs in high level athletes and holistic care incorporating nutritional and emotional health modalities including Applied Kinesiology (AK) and Neuro Emotional Technique (NET). After listening to her patients concerns, Emily made it a priority to have a clinic where patients can be heard, have time to ask questions, feel respected and feel they are a part of the family.

Emily was drawn to paediatric healthcare at a young age and went on to complete the 3 year undergraduate Bachelor of Science (Chiropractic) and the 2 year Masters of Chiropractic at Macquarie University.

She has a keen interest in child health from a structural, chemical, emotional and social viewpoint. Her interests in this field also extend into child neurodevelopment and how this impacts us as adults.

Since graduating Emily has furthered her education completing a number of courses including:

In 2012 Emily went to the USA and obtained the Neuro Emotional Technique (NET) Certified Level 2.

Emily has also attended courses in chiropractic neurology and functional neurology, functional biochemistry and paediatric chiropractic.

In 2015 Emily passed the Medical Academy of Pediatric Special Needs (MAPS) modules “Gastrointestinal & Nutrition” and “Environmental Medicine”.

Also in 2015 Emily completed the 2 year Diplomate in Chiropractic Neurodevelopmental Paediatrics though the College of Chiropractic Neuro-developmental Paediatrics (CCNP) and in 2017 completed the 2 year Diplomate in Chiropractic Neurology through The Carrick Institute.

In 2020 Emily was honoured to present at the Gymnastics NSW Kindergym Conference. This provided Kindergym coaches further understanding child development and more specifically the importance of Primitive Reflexes and their integration and the development of Postural Reflexes as well as the significance of Retained Primitive Reflexes or developmental delay and how health professionals and gymnastics coaches can work together to improve outcomes for children in their care.

Emily also uses her previous experience as a gymnastics and Kindergym coach to provide additional support to the work done in clinic. This experience is used to provide rehabilitation exercises and programs to both children and adults.

In 2022 and 2023 Emily attended the Melillo Method seminars and Advanced Clinical Applications module to improve integration of retained primitive reflexes using brain based therapies.

As an avid rock climber and skier, Emily also has a focus on health and nutrition outside of work. Both activities focus on balance and co-ordination and Emily utilises the examination processes and rehabilitation exercises used within the clinic to get the most from her body and perform at her best during NSW State and National Rock Climbing and Bouldering Competitions and during winter as part of the Perisher Pro Ski Patrol.
